Frequently asked questions

What counts as a dead proxy?

A proxy is marked dead if it fails to connect within the timeout window, refuses the connection, or the upstream target never responds. Some proxies are alive but blocked by specific sites, which is different from dead.

What does anonymity level mean?

It describes whether the proxy hides your real IP from the destination server. Elite/high-anonymity proxies show no trace of a proxy at all. Transparent proxies pass your real IP through in headers, which defeats the point of using one.

Why do free proxy lists die so fast?

Public proxy lists are scraped from open servers that get overloaded, IP-banned, or shut down within hours. A proxy that worked when a list was published can be dead an hour later, which is why checking before use matters.

Datacenter vs residential vs mobile, what's the difference?

Datacenter proxies run on hosting provider IPs and are fast but easy to detect. Residential proxies use real ISP-assigned IPs and blend in better. Mobile proxies route through carrier networks and are the hardest to block since carriers rotate IPs across many users.
